Mega Vs Dropbox Vs Boxnet

Mega Vs Dropbox Vs Boxnet: Features Compared

So the other day, I was curious upon launch of MEGA, that how does it fair up to its other two competitors. As a end user, I will always prefer to be with whoever offers me the best deal. So I picked up few parameters, that these so called file-sharing websites promote normally, in order to compare this trio. Here is the table:

Additional Notes

  • Note how MEGA only accepts payments in Euro.

  • All 3 services have additional features that justify the cost a bit further, but only marginally.

  • Boxnet allows the maximum no of users at 500 users, but is also the most costly and with ridiculous file size limits, though MEGA and Dropbox mention no such limits, so its hard to say if they have any.
  • Note, how both Dropbox and Boxnet mention no bandwidth limits, though I suspect the existence of such.
  • MEGA blows away the competition due to its cost/per GB being the lowest. Given, that how Megaupload had a tremendous service despite having a large user base, it is expected from MEGA to replicate that, once the fresh load on its servers stabilizes.
  • MEGA does lack the team a/c function.
  • A 50 user team account on dropbox costs 6420 dollars a year and comes loaded with 10,000 GB, bandwidth limit not known. Comparatively, if you have 50 users on Boxnet, the Level 3 Plan (Business) costs you 9000 $ a year giving only a 1000 GB account with the file limit of 2 GB.
  • Only when you have 3-4 team members, the Boxnet service is cheaper than Dropbox, since Dropbox applies a minimum limit of 5 users.
Hope this helps, please let me know if this needs any corrections. Suggestions as always are much appreciated.

PS: Its funny, how .. when the other day I raised this question, I was down-voted. Lol!

  2. please compare with specific unique feature.. What I've read here just compare the premium & free user plan based on how big their traffic and storage offered

  3. Mega. Free account states 50 GB, but it will actually allow much more ~150 GB
